Welcome to the University of Rwanda, School of Medicine and Pharmacy
This school is the oldest and largest in Rwanda, you will find interesting information of what young and older doctors are doing to improve the health care in Rwanda as well as in this ever-changing world.

The school of medicine is organized into undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The students from the school to have theoretical knowledge and skills required to manage different diseases. The pharmacy students are getting knowledge and skills for management and manufacturing medications used in health care delivery. The school have also postgraduate program where medical doctors are doing subspecialties to fill the gap of competent and equitable healthcare delivery.

The school community is involved in different initiative among them we can cite research for better understanding the health care provided and also to quantify the gap in health system, global health for understanding and managing health care equitably.
The school continues to work with different partners to have global knowledge and skills required for today medical doctor who will treat different patients coming from different parts of the world.

Mission
To be a Centre of excellence in training health professionals having knowledge, attitude and skills that are responsive to the healthcare needs of the Rwandan population.

Our Objectives
To train and improve educational practice in Medicine, by setting learning outcomes that guarantees acquisition of knowledge, attitudes and skills that will ensure high standards of medical practice, thereby contributing to the health of the Rwandan population, an important pillar to the national development.

Research opportunities

University of Rwanda Medical School work together to pioneer innovative solutions to pressing health care problems, focusing on the MOH research agenda. The University of Rwanda Medical School offers graduate students and postdoctoral fellows the quantity and quality of research opportunities with the individual attention from world leading faculty that will result in the best graduate experiences. The Medical School has partnership with the school of public health which conduct many research projects. All medical students and residents are requested to conduct a research project at the end of their training.

Obstetrics Gynecology department



Dear Reader,
I have great honor to lead the department of gynecology and obstetrics at college of medicine and health sciences, university of Rwanda, and the department has been offering training for both undergraduate and post graduate students. Our students study at easy with the support of dedicated staff, mentors and specialists. The department of Gynecology and Obstetrics uses a patient centered care approach, our students are taught to uphold the values of Rwandan desired health care providers. Alongside the clinical knowledge and critical thinking, our students are trained to becoming the patient’s educators, advocates and health community leaders with an emphasis on women ‘health.
